The Philosophy and Design of Azorius Control

The Azorius Control archetype is generally designed to overwhelm opponents with card advantage, answer threats one-for-one via counters and removals, stabilize the board with sweepers, disrupt mana bases, and generally force concession through Planeswalker activations, beating with Snapcaster Mage, Vendilion Clique, Shark Typhoon, and/or Celestial Colonnade.

The core template typically plays 24-25 lands, somewhere between 0 and 8 creatures, 4-8+ Planeswalkers, and a combination of cantrips, draw spells, removals, and counters.
